My experience is different then Sofia's because when I came here I came by myself. It was really sad for me because my parents were in my country and most of my family. I came in this to have a better life then I used to have in my own country that is why I left everything. My same experience with Sofia is that when I got here I was surprised with the big difference between my country and the United Sate like market, school, and everything were surprising for me.

  2. My situation is different as Sofia because when I came here I knew that is going to be hard. However , I live with my mom but I knew that i can't came back to my country to see my huge family i left there. I knew that I was losing everything because I didn't have time to call my friends plus here I feel I will never going to find a real friend, as I saw every one in their all world. My same experience with Sofia is that I have to work and study, the language, and what surprising me still the people not only the Americans most the Latinos that they change a lot,but now I am different because I became a selfish with my school, job and the good thing is that I learn the language and I have my best friend from other country but the best is that i am learning an other language beside English. 964876

  3. 903165- Sofia experience is extremely powerful, she was born in another country that I haven't seen a "Mercado" or animals. I haven't been to another country; so I cant say "I been through her shoes". I don't have a job as a fitness instructor; also i got pregnant before twenty. We have in common a little thing like she moved with her family; but I just moved counties and she moved countries. When I go places a I speck Spanish fluently people stare at me like if i was suppose to speck English always. It gets me mad cause i can't talk to someone if they don't know the language.

    1. Dear 903165,
Aha! But you speak two languages! If people stare at you, (I think) it's because they are envious! They wish THEY spoke more than English!
(It's a compliment when they stare),

  4. I haven't experience differed from that of Sofia. In my country,we have the same conditions the Mercados and descriptions.Like Sofia the Mercados at USA.are so interesting. They have different characteristics. They make amazement.I can say what I experimented about the Mercados has been the same as Sofia.I was surprised about the peaceful, no noise and cleanness of these places. Nothing the animals in there which can be to walk without nobody can control them. 987062

    1. Dear 987062,
I remember when my relatives came to this country for the first time. My aunt looked at all the different kinds of cereal boxes and said, "How can you choose?" She also wondered why there were so many teddy bears around--toys and pictures. She didn't like the cold (air conditioning) in the stores. "Why is it always so cold in here?" she's say.

  5. the different between Sofia's story and mine is that I came alone to his country without my family. At the beginning it was very difficult to be long far away from my mother, but then I get used to it.
My experience is a little similar to Sofia because as soon as I get hire I stared to work and study at the same time. and also some times I had these thoughts about my family, friends and what I had left back in my country.

my experience is different than Sofia's experience because since I left in my home country, I always thought about my family. It was difficult to me to leave them because i didn't have any other choices. when i was in Guatemala i always hate to go to school I never thought about education and how important is it. When i came in the United States everything is different and hard. i have to worked hard and go to school because the language they speak which is English is very important. People who speak two languages have more opportunity to have a good job, and they got pay more. the way she has the same with me is when she had a hard time to learn the language. English is a hard language to learn even though how to write.

  7. My experience has different from Sofia like she was living near the USA, but I came it different way .It wasn’t really easy because I was immigrated and for those people who trying to come. They don’t even survive because the coyote were some good and bad.
My experience with Sofia is when we both left our country and left our friend, relatives, and our sweet home. Therefore, we can get a better life and a future as we both a dream. Furthermore, we went to the school there were teachers understand us because we didn’t speak English including they were able to helping us during the lunch or after school. Also, it was interesting when she said in the morning she didn’t see people digging to find food which in each of our country we see people during the day or night try to find food to survive. 8. It is different in the way that I really wanted to leave my family because my mother is from a religion where everything is not good for them. When I knew I was going to leave my family, I was very excited. Since I was little, I wanted to leave my home. When the day arrived, it was like I was getting out of a prison. All my friends were crying and the families too. For me, it was the day of my liberty and I will never for get that day.
The supermarkets are the same as El Salvador, the people are screaming we have what you want and when you get there, you can hear music everywhere. The music it wasn't too bad, I remember that it was nice to have it. When I was shopping, I was singing the song like the babysitter song from Marc Antoni and other artists too. 983947

  9. my experience is different because when i came i had to live with my uncle in California and my brother and sister where in Virginia .I always wanted to come to the U.S but i didn't know i was going to live with my uncle for a year .It was very difficult living with them because i missed my brothers so much and the treat that other family besides your mother and brothers give you is not the same ,There is always preference over their own children and you .When i turned 18 i decided to move out to live with my sister and brother and i live much more happy with them than living with my uncle and his family .In El Salvador we have Mercados too ,and i was used to go to the Mercado and buy all the vegetables or other stuff there, but it was not surprising for me that there are no mercados here and everything is packed here because we also have the similar stores over there ,and i was used to it too.987601
